My observations of the big broadcast?
Seacrest making fun of himself was pretty funny… even if you don’t like him you must admit he’s good at what he does. Other than noticing that I fast forwarded through most of the pre-game BS.
The national anthem was lip-synced!! Not only did that American Idol chick almost split her dress getting onto the riser - she lip-synced the National Anthem !! (and not very well.) It’s obvious that FOX was going to do everything they could to promote themselves often throughout the broadcast.
Those announcers sucked! Are you kidding me? Joe Buck and Troy Aikman?? I can’t believe the biggest football game of the year was called by that pair of goofballs.
Tom Petty still rocks! That performance wasn’t lip-synced! and kudos to the sound crew … the best halftime show audio I can remember.
The commercials sucked! Maybe my expectations were too high, but outside the Clydesdale/Dalmatian spot (which was cute) is the best ad really the spitting baby with a grown-ups voice? Seems to me they’ve been much better in years past.
FOX really screwed up on their estimation of when the game would end. This caused a slight DVR problem … I mean they were like an hour off!
But wow! How ’bout that Giants defense?? That game was pretty good after all, didn’t ya think?

So when I saw the video of the young Iranian man and his suicidal ways, I was shocked and somewhat frightened (check out the video in my last blog on “Why We Should Fear Iran”.)
Then, I saw this video of a young woman and a young man working together to indulge their selfishly suicidal interests … I was floored.
Check it out: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e8e_1200705815
See … proof that the Iranians are crazy!!!
Enjoy! Thanks for listening!

You may have seen or heard about the video and audio captured during a supposed “conflict ” between the U.S. Navy and Iranian patrol boats in International waters. This was said by our government to be a “close call” and by the Iranian government as a fabrication. The problem is that the U.S. accounts of what happened very from those offered by the Iranians.
After hearing the audio (if you missed it you can find it here: http://www.mahalo.com/US-Iran_Navy_Standoff ) I think I may suspect it could be fabricated … listen to the voice saying “you will explode in two minutes” - does that seem to match the other audio at all? Besides, look at the little boats the Iranians are in … would you take a motorized rowboat to initiate World War 3? Me neither.
I’m not sure if the current administration is going to try to start a conflict with Iran before January 2009 or not, but it worries me.
However, when I saw this video - I realized that there are much crazier things going on over there … check this out: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b48_1200105797
I know, I know … seems like the Iranians could be even more crazy than we thought.
Peace! Thanks for listening!

So my parents live in beautiful Conifer, CO. A mountain community that’s just far enough away to escape the masses and pollution (for now) and just close enough so that the drive is less than an hour. There are two ways to get up there … Highway 285 or Deer Creek Canyon.
For those who’ve never driven up Deer Creek Canyon you really should make that trek one day … one of the most scenic drives to be found that close to Denver. After the canyon, a left turn will send you up a road referred to as “The High Grade” because the elevation change is so rapid. Driving a well-equipped vehicle up that road used to be one of my favorite things to do …. that is until the day that Jefferson County ruined it.
They re-paved the road which made it a bikers dream … smooth and winding, guaranteed to satisfy any vehicle, motorcycle or bicycling enthusiast. But after allowing us a teaser-taste of asphalt perfection, Jeffco decided they had extra tax dollars to waste, and installed centerline rumble strips. If you’re not familiar with this technique, click here for a description: http://co.jefferson.co.us/highways/highways_T48_R56.htm#RumbleStrips A short summary, they use a huge grinder to cut grooves in the pavement over the center yellow line. These are very similar to those rumble strips found on the outside of highway lanes to alert drifting drivers. I fully understand the purpose there and agree that it probably saves lives.
What I don’t understand is the centerline rumble strip. Why would the county use tax dollars to rip up the new asphalt that they so expertly laid down? They say it’s to alert drivers when they cross the yellow line. WTF? If I’m driving on a mountain or canyon road - I would like to be alerted when I’m drifting off the road… not when I’m crossing the middle yellow line. I’m well aware of where my vehicle is on the road, and if I was to hypothetically cross the middle yellow line, it would more likely be to efficiently round a corner. I’m neither condoning nor encouraging crossing the center line of any road … but when one can safely see far enough ahead to utilize a portion of the other lane to create a smoother corner arc I feel they should be able to do so without having their entire vehicle vibrate intensely.
In summary, I thought it should be pointed out that Jefferson County obviously has a surplus of funds that came from tax dollars and they’re looking very hard for ways to spend your money. If we have to install centerline rumble strips to help people drive better, than those people shouldn’t be driving. There comes a point when we need to stop catering to the stupid and unskilled. When you interrupt or altogether do away with natural selection, the overall quality of the gene pool degrades … this is and has been happening for quite some time now - way to dumb it down, people. I’m all about saving lives, but this is going overboard don’t ya think?
Peace! Thanks for listening!

So you mean to tell me that in the year 2008 …. here in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world - we just go along with the outdated tradition of letting Iowa make the first and arguably one of the most important decisions regarding who will be elected President of the land of the free and the home of the brave? Now I know this will ruffle a few feathers, but someone has got to say it ….. Iowa? Are you kidding me?
I admit I have no first hand knowledge of the types of folk that reside in that sparsely populated lone mid-western universe. I’m sure they’re great people - but do they really represent the typical values or views of the rest of the country? I think not. I think that their existence is vastly different than that of most residents of most other states in this country. The only time anyone ever talks or even for a moment thinks about Iowa is during the antiquated caucuses. That’s a whole other can of worms that I won’t open right now … but let’s just suffice to say that I’m glad we vote here in Colorado as opposed to herding in corners of school gymnasiums screaming at people trying to persuade them to join you. Even if we vote on old school paper ballots this year, at least we don’t “caucus.”
My point is this my friends …. It’s about time we got with the times as far as how we do things in this country. Old school is just that … old. It’s bad enough that the average age of our congress people and senators is around 60 years old, but must we continue with the same election processes that were used before they invented the microchip?
Societal and technological evolution is beginning to happen exponentially … and this will continue to accelerate. People need to keep up with the times or pull over to the right and let the rest of us by (by the way - for those who didn’t understand that metaphor, here in Colorado the slower traffic is supposed to stay to the right and let faster moving vehicles pass in the left lane - also known as the “fast” lane … feel free to pass it on.)
Until next time …. rock on wit’ yo bad selves and thanx for listening!!

Some time ago, I made the decision to never perpetuate the sickness in our society by commenting on Britney Spears or anything to do with her. I thought that maybe that would somehow help society to realize that the sick obsession with that no-talent ass-clown, but I now realize that no matter what I do, people will continue to mope around with blinders on eating the crap that’s spoon-fed to them by the brainwashing media outlets.
So now we discover that not only is Britney a dirty (insert whatever word you find appropriate here) - but her younger sister is as well. I didn’t even realize she was on a Nickelodeon show, but of course she is … her qualification? She shares the inbred, back woods, white trash, moronic, somehow missed by natural selection DNA with her sister.
The funny thing about her pregnancy at age 16 is that she claims she was shocked. Did she not know what happens when part A is inserted in part B without the ever crucial part C ??
Now I hear that a publishing company has indefinitely postponed plans to put out a book on parenting from none other than Mommy Spears. She should be charged with a crime - child neglect, bad parenting, or otherwise being a complete and absolute idiot. She should never have been allowed to re-produce - this is what happens.
Funny that you must get a license to drive a car, take tests to gain admission to schools, etc. but anyone who can find an equally ignorant donor can have a child.
These are the people we share the earth with … these are the people using up our precious oxygen. But go on - keep buying the wrag-mags, keep watching the TV coverage … eat it up people. Sometimes I’m embarrassed to be a human. I feel so badly for those poor children - let’s hope by way of a miracle they somehow turn out alright.

I was so very proud of our beloved Broncos this past weekend, they played like we knew they could and looked solid. Cutler’s performance was proof that Shanahan sure knows how to pick ‘em.
That reminds me - have you seen the commercial for the Thursday night game? Classic … “you can’t Shanahan the Shanahan!” Speaking of our great Coach Shanahan - can you believe the NFL fined him $25,000 for “inappropriate comments” regarding the Travis Henry case? That’s outrageous - where’s the NFL’s fine for accusing Henry and being wrong about it, and violating their own drug policy?
And by the way - the flag for throwing some snow in the air in celebration? Bull#*it! What was so wrong with that .. it’s not like he whipped out a sharpie and signed an autograph.
Go Broncos!! …… Boo San Diego!!!

I’m embarrassed for the man. The realization that intelligence we had months ago that indicates that Iran apparently halted development of nuclear weapons four years ago forced our President to use the word nuclear … however he pronounces it “nucular.”
The rest of the world has to be chuckling if not fully busting up with laughter. How can the man that was elected to lead the supposed “greatest country in the world” not know how to pronounce a word that has become increasingly more frequently used as of late.
It seems to me it only requires a simple glance at the word to realize that immediately after the c comes the l … which is followed by an e, an a , and an r. Spell it out, Mr. President … Nuc-le-ar. It’s like those people out there who seem to think that the word caramel should be pronounced “car-mul.” Do they know how uneducated that makes them sound? Do they care?
And while I’m at it I might as well point out that the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers is named Fa- Vre … not Farve … but since that’s a name I’ll allow for other pronunciation rules (perhaps those of the French in this case.)
I know in this day and age our language is evolving .. for better or worse, and in some crowds it’s fashionable to “tweak” the language or develop new variations thereof … but can some presidential adviser please put an end to the madness??
Thank you,
Geronimo

So our building is downtown … and as you surely know - parking downtown can be a b*#tch. It’s bad enough that a parking ticket will cost you $25 and $50 if you don’t pay it in time … but if you fail to pay - you get the Denver Boot.
This past weekend I saw numerous cars with the new Denver Boot. Coincidentally, this past weekend was the Parade of Lights festivities downtown. I happen to think they put more meter maids out in anticipation of all the suburban folks coming downtown for the festivities. The new Denver Boot apparently has a keypad that you can use to release the boot yourself after paying over the phone. Of course you have to deliver the boot back to them right away, or pay a daily fine for failure to do so.
I got the Boot once - I think it costed like $130 + my unpaid ticket costs to get things resolved. It can’t possibly cost that much for them to install the Boot on the car. I can’t imagine all the money they pull in.
What really blows my mind is that they can effectively deem your car immobile to force you to pay money that you’re being forced to pay because you violated their parking rules somehow. My personal favorite was when I got a ticket because my tire was not within a certain amount of inches from the curb …. brilliant!
My tips for you based on my misfortunes …. pay your tickets in a timely manner, and if you have the time - go to the City & County building and ask to see the “Referee” to dispute the tickets. They will usually give you some sort of break if you pay right then. If you DO have outstanding tickets - pay to park in private pay lots - you probably won’t get the boot there unless you don’t pay them either. Otherwise best of luck … they nickle and dime you to death, man!!!

I’m a bit of a news junkie .. and I’m working on it, but I still seem to find myself “checking in” with various news outlets pretty much daily. I cannot fathom how the news outlets can expect to cover the political campaigns at this pace for another year. Since when do candidates start campaigning two years before an election? What will happen next election? Will they start campaigning three years before?
I know what the reason is (I think.) It’s the cable news networks. In their quest for ratings, they have devised a collective plan to make political campaigns a daily story so that they’ll always have some “news” to report. These are the same people responsible for immortalizing Anna Nicole Smith and making updates on the pathetic life of Britney Spears something that you have to endure before hearing about international news that could very well affect the future of our country and the entire planet.
I truly think that these “news outlets” will contribute greatly to the eventual downfall of our society. They are essentially brainwashing the masses (or at least controlling our exposure which equates to a similar result.)
I wonder if by the time the election comes around, we might all be so sick of the candidates that we won’t want to vote for any of them. Until then I’ll get my news from the BBC.
