I find it hard to believe but every year it comes up – a debate about when it is or isn’t appropriate to put up holiday lights. To that I’d have to say two things… To those that put their holiday lights up before Thanksgiving – you have too much time on your hands. Sometimes too much anticipation can lead to disappointment. Why would you look past such a nice holiday as Thanksgiving. That’s like having a Superbowl party before the playoffs. Now for those who complain or otherwise feel the need to express their dissatisfaction with people who put their lights up early – you have WAY too much time on your hands. Please tell me how it affects your life at all. So you have to look at pretty twinkling lights in soft white or assorted colors …. is that going to kill you? This drives me nuts - I don’t think anyone has the right to attempt to forcibly alter someone else’s life to make their own more comfortable – or did I miss something? And for all those living in Ft. Collins where our tax dollars are so hard at work debating colored lights and religious expression during the holidays … don’t get me started!
As for Black Friday – let me make an observation. If a store can sell an item to you at a sale price, that most likely means when they don’t sell it to you for the sale price, they’re bending you over. Think about it … would you sell me your car at a low price that would make you lose money? No, I don’t think you would. Stop buying into the frenzy created by the media to keep retailers afloat when perhaps they should sink a little bit. When you wake up that early to go shopping you just justify the behavior and feed into the scam. And by the way, I bet I can find that TV for that price or lower on any given Friday (or any other day of the week.) Do some research … don’t be one of the sheep.
O.K. – I feel much better now ….. Thanks for letting me vent – next time we’ll discuss happy things.
Thanx 4 listening!
